The SONY company plans to launch the PlayStation Stars loyalty program for PS4 and PS5 game console owners later this year.
What is PlayStation Star? This is a loyalty program from the SONY company where loyal PlayStation (PS) players will get a number of points to be exchanged at the PlayStation Store.
The SONY company said that players can join the PlayStation Stars loyalty program for free, as quoted from the PlayStation website, Saturday (16 July 2022).
Sony explains that a certain number of points will be awarded to Players by entering the game each month, or completing certain trophy-based challenges.
One example, the challenge is to be the first player to get a platinum trophy in every game title in the city where the player lives.
“PlayStation Star members can redeem points earned directly in their PSN wallets, or for various products on the PlayStation Store,” said VP of Sony Interactive Entertainment, Grace Chen.
Not only that, players can also exchange these points to get a number of digital collectibles, such as iconic and favorite character figures to other interesting items.
In an interview Chen said "that claimed digital collectibles use points from PlayStation Stars, not NFT.PlayStation Stars does not use a blockchain system, and digital collectibles cannot be traded or sold."
The company said it would gradually implement the PlayStation Stars program in several regions.
Information, Microsoft and Nintendo also have a loyalty program similar to the one Sony will announce.
On Xbox, players can earn Microsoft Rewards points by purchasing and playing games, as well as being part of an Xbox Game Pass member.
Nintendo also offers a similar program called My Nintendo, which rewards gamers who buy games, play Nintendo mobile games, or other company services.
