Recently, actor Ryan Gosling said that he wanted to play the Ghost Rider in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). In response, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige said he would be delighted to welcome Gosling to the MCU family
"If Ryan wants to be Ghost Rider, he's a really impressive actor. I'd be happy to find a place for him in the MCU," Feige told Josh Horowitz of MTV News at San Diego Comic-Con International. 27/7/2022).
Horowitz previously interviewed Gosling for his new Netflix film, The Gray Man. At the same time, the actor actively talked about the possible role of Ghost Rider. Gosling says it's not how many superhero roles he gets, but it's a role he should really like, like the Ghost Rider figure.
The actor who has played Ghost Rider is Nicolas Cage, opposite Gosling's wife, Eva Mendes. The film tells of Johnny Blaze (the character's name according to the comic), a motorcycle rider who sells his soul to save the life of the one he loves. As a result, he transforms into Ghost Rider, with a sinister look.
After 2007's Ghost Rider, Cage brought the character back to life in 2011's Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. Actor Gabriel Luna went on to play a different version of Ghost Rider in "Agents of SHIELD". In this version, Ghost Rider is named Robbie Reyes.
Reyes is told as a car mechanic who was killed and then resurrected as Ghost Rider. There were plans for another spinoff about Ghost Rider on Hulu, but it never came to fruition. Feige said, there is still a gap for the story of this figure in the MCU.
"Speaking of Ghost Rider, we have Blade and Doctor Strange in the supernatural corner. We get a street level with Daredevil and, of course, Spidey goes into a street hero level. And cosmicly, that's where Eros (played by Harry Styles) and Pip (played by Patton Oswalt) stay," said the producer.
At Comic-Con, Marvel has mapped out all of the MCU's phase four and five, as well as a portion of phase six. Besides Fantastic Four, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, and Avengers: Secret Wars in phase six, who knows Ghost Rider will be the next project.
