Draymond Green wants max Extension & Warriors Heading Towards Impasse Over Max Contract

The Golden State Warriors have been a little cash-strapped this summer as they try to hold on to their current build having just won their fourth title in eight years with a trio of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green.

The two aforementioned players, Thompson and Green, will also soon be getting new contracts, along with Jordan Poole and Andrew Wiggins.

Draymond Green will be eligible to sign a contract extension with the Warriors on August 3. After the championship season ended, the 32-year-old striker reportedly wanted a maximum four-year extension that would earn him $164.2 over the next five seasons. He currently has two years remaining on his current maximum deal with Dubs.

The former Defender of the Year has been an integral part of Golden State as they won four championships in eight years. He has been competing for DPOY for more than a season and sees himself as an important part of the Warriors deserving of the maximum deal.

However, it is rumored that Golden State is not interested in offering Draymond Green a maximum extension, at least not for this year. It is thought that Golden State will wait until next summer before they start contract extension talks with the player.
